William Lyons
Kansas City, Missouri
I follow few rules in the creation of my work, except faith to the vision I have. The piece will come to me almost fully formed in my mind or by the juxtaposition of materials as they come together. I do not have a specific source for my inspiration, the world is the play box for my work. Emotions, mythologies, humor, questions of physics the social political condition or walking the dog and seeing a turned over flower pot… I keep myself open to all sources for my work. Joy comes when I find myself being lead in the direction the piece wants to go. When the piece is complete, and I am surprised by unexpected results, then I feel I have succeeded.
